The adventurous activity permit scheme is an internal assessment scheme designed to ensure that all those leading adventurous activities for young people within Scouting have the skills, experience and personal suitability to do so.

Most outdoor pursuits are included in the scheme the main exceptions being Air Activities, Shooting and Swimming.

You will find details of the scheme by clicking here and a summary diagramme of the process at the bottom of this page.

The County has a number Permit Assessors in post to help you gain a permit.  They can help with both training and assessment in most cases. Currently we have County Assessors for: -

Hill Walking
Climbing
Kayaking
Canoeing
Narrow Boating
Power Boating
Motor Cruising
Archery (new arrangements apply for 2016 - click her for details)
Scout Rafting

In the region we also have Assessors for: -

Mountain Biking
Caving
Underwater Diving
Pulling
Bell Boating

So there is lots of help and support available.

For further information on train for or gaining a Permit please contract Rob Williams DCC (Activities) via e-mail at dccact@hwscouts.org.uk
Headquarters also have a number of funding opportunities in relationship to Activity Permits. Find out more on scouts.org.uk by clicking here.

Rob is more than happy to meet up with individual Leaders or groups of Leaders who would like to talk over the options open to them within the permit scheme.  So please contact him to arrange a meeting.
