Archery Assessments

We will be running our first ever archery assessments to enable leaders to gain a permit for Archery so that you can run this activity as per the new rule changes that came into force from January 2016.

Assessments will be held on 17th September from 9.30am until 4pm at Rhydd Covert Campsite.

These are open to any scout member who feels that they can meet all of the criteria in the assessment checklist https://members.scouts.org.uk/supportresources/3/archery?moduleID=24&cat=26,407,351

If you have run archery under the old rules and had a GNAS qualification but did not keep it up to date due to the costs or you have been an assistant helping someone with a qualification on a regular basis then you wont find any part of the assessment day very taxing, as well as making a judgement on your ability to run a fun yet safe archery session parts of the day will be helping you to fill any gaps that you may have in how things have changed since any official training took place and even giving you further skills to improve your own personal archery.

Just taking part in the day regardless of the outcome counts towards ongoing learning so this helps when your warrant is due for renewal.

There is a maximum of 12 people that can be assessed on the day and these will be allocated on a first come first served basis. However if the response is greater we will try to arrange a further date to get everyone assessed before the end of the year.

There is a cost of £10-00 on the day to cover the assessor costs.

If you would like to apply for a place on the day then please fill in a permit application form https://members.scouts.org.uk/supportresources/2837/adventurous-activity-permit-application-form?moduleID=10   please add a note to the application stating your availability on the 17th September so we can distinguish between those needing a physical assessment and those applying with a current NGB and send it to.
